OOC Discussion Post!
Have your characters had fun looking for Ai? Have they changed their mind? Finally, we're revealing the real facts about the NPC Ai so that you as players can decide what direction you want the game to go in.
Revealing Ai
Ai is an NPC created by the Mysterious Boy NPC (Fantoche) before he was reprogrammed by the Programmer as a troubleshooting and repair program for the glitches. The Mysterious Boy program was recently reprogrammed by the Programmer to allow his intentions to override the safety of the system. Because the Programmer didn't realize that Ai had been created before he reprogrammed Fantoche, the security inputs to control her were wiped from Fantoche's programming and she became an uncontrollable element.
This means that her programming is set to fight off glitches and stabilize the programming, eliminating any threats that might potentially cause more glitches (including shadows) and defending the purpose of the afterlife and make a safe place for people to move on.
Because she is uncontrollable, The Programmer wants her returned and that's what this whole thing has been about. What it comes down to now is whether or not characters are going to turn Ai in. The choice will have different repercussions ICly, which is why it's important to discuss ahead of time. It can be discussed ICly because who gets a hold of Ai will be determined by an RNG pool. If the decision is yes, turn her in, then it will be from a pool of characters who wanted to turn her in. If the decision is no, keep her away from the Programmer, then it will be from a pool of characters who do not want to turn her in (who can then decide what to do with her ICly from there).
OPTION: Turn Her In
Turning her in will, of course, offer the world building option. One arena of anything that your character would ICly request, the character who gets to choose being chosen by the RNG. This is what the Programmer wants, and therefore what the Mysterious Boy NPC has as his current goal. This will mean the game goes more slice-of-life and glitch-type events for a little while as well. Ai as an NPC will also be significantly less prominent, with only a small role in the game's future.
OPTION: Protect Ai
Protecting Ai means that the characters will have to deal with the Programmer and Fantoche more extensively in the upcoming months and will also not be able to take the world building opportunity. It will mean less glitches, but also provide characters with access to the Angel Player program and Ai as a means to fight against shadows and the Programmer. What characters do with Ai once they have her is up to IC behavior after they manage to protect her. This also means that shadows will continue to hold a prevalent role on the surface and make "random battles" a commonplace event for characters. Slice-of-life and glitch-type events will be limited for a period of time.
OPTION: Other?
If you have another option that you would like to bring to the table, please feel free to bring it up as well and comment here to have it added to the poll that will go up on Monday, March 17th. If your option wins, we will list potential in-game consequences on the poll post so that everyone knows what will result and will be able to make an informed decision.
---
So go forth, discuss, and make sure that you have your decisions ready for the poll on Monday the 17th! The poll will only run for a short period (through the 19th) and Ai will be continually active as an NPC starting the 17th as the Dark Allies event starts. For more details on the Dark Allies event, please check out the Monthly Events Post.

Okay, so Kohaku is the one of my two more likely to get involved with this entire business. He is interested in how this place works and has a kind of personal problem with any NPCs. Which means he'd want to fuck up things for both Ai and Fantoche. He'd vote towards not handing Ai in but also not working with her. Rather, he'd hope to find a way to make use of a kind of hostage situation with Ai as the hostage.
Still, above all he'd also consider Yuri's word on this, he's pretty loyal to her as a leader as of now.
Yamashita would not quite know what to vote for... If Ai could convince him she's like a real person, he'd vote for her protection, if not for the restoring of order by handing her in. I don't think he'd get overly involved with all of this.
I, OOCly, absolutely vote for protecting Ai because I am so up for plot heavy stuff and I am personally biased towards more Fantoche stuff, both because Mysterious NPC was my favourite in the anime and because I enjoy his interactions with Kohaku enormously
I am so hyped for all of this wow

Also I was really surprised that I was actually right about one thing, and I just love our mods right now, to be honest. I'll definitely bring in both my character's opinions and my own.
Haruhi is the one who is the most involved with this and has been doing a lot of investigative work and has already figured out who the NPC is, but isn't exactly sure if she wants to give her to the Programmer. Mostly because she doesn't trust the Programmer and she's taking in all that information with a grain of salt.
Anyway, as the detective she is planning to initially capture Ai, but since she's also the student council president, she'll be helping out the majority and she might give out the two options ICly.
This is mostly because if we do choose to turn her in and we get the world building option, Haruhi is willing to help with the final decision.
However, Haruhi here is emotionally invested in the afterlife, having been in the place the longest outside of the Angel Beats! cast, and she doesn't like having glitches or shadows so she'll more than likely go to protect Ai, even though she thinks her personality is kind of weird.
Basically I'm totally willing to work together with all of you OOCly to make dreams real ICly.
Also she will fight anyone and the fights might get messy. And she will offer to help any new characters fight shadows by making weapons or teaching them any sort of martial arts or whatever.
Aaand all Haruhi really wants is the glory of being a decent human being :|a
Himeko's probably going to choose neither to protect Ai or give her up to the Programmer because she doesn't trust anybody unless someone can convince her otherwise.
And Homura's not going to honestly care.
I, personally love this plot and I have no idea if I'm going to be coherent and I really do love the Mysterious NPC and Ai (where is my Fantouche/Ai fanart guys) and this plot and if anybody has any questions or anything they want to plot with me beforehand or anything in regards to this because w o w feel free to tell me!

Anyway I guess I'll follow the format that everyone else is taking with this!
Riki is more or less on the fence of this all, but he's leaning more toward keeping Ai around. He's not invested in the "hunt" at all (keeping his eye out and hearing what people have to say on it, but that's about all), and he is iffy about turning someone over like that, even if they are an NPC. He's like Haruhi in that he's been around since the game started so he has also seen what the glitches and shadows can do, so after seeing Ai's abilities, he'll probably want her to stay around (and also befriend her eyyy). So ultimately he'll more than likely be against turning her in.
Celica on the other hand absolutely does not want to turn Ai in. No questions asked there.
Personally/OOCly, I am definitely leaning toward protecting Ai because eyyyy plot plot plot. I can dig it.

Anyway, Leon is a selfish prick and all for handing in Ai for a reward, although he's too lazy to have been keeping an eye out and try to find the NPC himself or anything.. but if it came down to making a decision, he'd be for handing her over, no questions asked.
Madoka on the other hand would obviously not want to hand her over. Short and simple.

Personally, I'm cool either way.

OOCly, I'm fine with either option, but leaning towards protecting Ai.

He's also suspicious of the Programmer and his lackey regarding the entire ordeal in the first place. Doesn't believe this rogue NPC is as much of a threat as they claim and that they just don't like that it's "uncontrollable." ;)
Accelerator hasn't done much in the way of trying to find the NPC. There are others who'll surely put in that effort. That said, he is currently spending a lot of time down in Guild making weapons. He predicts that things won't go as smoothly as the Programmer wants, so he wants to be prepared. He will supply other characters with Academy City-issue handguns should they want them.
Yuuko hasn't paid much attention yet, but once she meets Ai she'd probably like her and want to protect her.
OOCly I am fine with either but lean toward protecting Ai.
