Hey everyone and welcome to the
afterliving policy updates post! With all sorts of goodies for you to review, question, or comment on before they're officially implemented. Let's get started!
Activity Check Policy ChangesBy popular vote, the activity check is going to be changed to
20 comments, every other month. The majority rules, so we will be over the next couple of days altering the rules to reflect this new activity check standard. There a few more policies that are going to go along with this, mostly due to the fact that this change is in addition to indefinitely open applications, so here's a brief overview of the changes that are going to be made:
1. If your application is accepted during the month of the activity check or in the last week of the non-AC month, you will not be required to participate in that first activity check. It will be stated in your acceptance comment whether you will or won't be required to participate in the next activity check.
2. This is a much lower activity standard and we accept any comments made during the whole two month period, so we will be much less lax about warnings. We will require that, if you have been here the majority of the activity period, if you go on hiatus during the activity check that you complete the "Hiatus with AC" form that's always been on the hiatus page. We will also not accept comments made after the start of the AC period to count for activity. (If it is like 1-2 comments, sure, but otherwise? You've had two months to make 20 comments, if you can't manage that then unless you've been on hiatus, you're probably character sitting.)
3. Activity checks will be moved to the last Friday of every other month, regardless of what the date is. It used to be that they were relative to the app open date, but since they'll be open all the time, it's just going to be the last Friday of every other month. So the next check will be on January 25th, 2013, then March 29th, and so on and so forth. (The AC acceptance period lasting for 7 days each time.) We will be giving notice a week before hand and the day beforehand as reminders that the activity check is coming and that you
need to have your 20 comments ready to go!
4. If you are dropped from an activity check, you will be subject to a waiting period of two weeks before you may reapply for your character. The only exceptions to this rule will be made if you speak to the mods directly to explain why you were unable to get your AC in (for example, you were gone the week AC went up and didn't post it in time, NOT because you didn't have enough comments). Otherwise, the consequence for failing an activity check will be that there is a period to give other people a chance to app for that character.
App Policy ChangesAfter reviewing comments that were given to us, we have decided to have a couple more changes that we figure you should be aware of!
1. Apps are now open indefinitely, as stated in a previous post.
2. Since it's open season on apps all the time now, you may only submit up to three applications per month per person. If you delete your applications to get around this, there may be consequences.
3. Again, because of the open season on all apps, if you are reapplying there is a one-week waiting period during which you may not submit an application for the same character. You may not reserve the character during the waiting period.
Events/Plot Changes1. We will be giving prior notice to events at the beginning of the month from now on, followed by a post a week beforehand for specific plotting, and a post in the OOC comm on the day that events start with reiterated details and, if applicable, a link to the event post or instructions on how to respond to the event (ie your character can make posts to react to it on their own, etc.). It's a little late to start it this month, but we will be starting in January.
2. The mods will try to establish more of a storyline to go along with the game to generate more interest. We will give you more details on this at a later date, but please look forward to it!
3. Events will not all be given logs, instead any that we deem to be more open/general events will be open to posts from anyone, rather than a specific log. This will not affect the general interaction logs that go up each month!
Other Policy Changes1. The housing list is going to be shuffled in the upcoming week. The large number of drops that occurred left most people without roommates, which leaves out a significant amount of fun for dorm/apartment shenanigans. The IC reason for this will be the sudden shutdown of all but one dorm building for males and one for females due to "sewage problems" in the other buildings.
2. This last one is just a reminder that if ever you have comments, suggestions, or complaints about the game, how it's being run, or other non-question comments, please use the
appropriate page and not the FAQ. The FAQ is reserved for questions about the game, rather than to open a conversation with the moderators about an aspect of the game that you would like to bring up a point about. The page is also linked at the bottom of every profile for this game's communities.

Thank you and if you have any further questions, please comment in reply to this post! To give anyone a chance to say something before the changes are officially made, these changes will be made on each of the official pages (rule page, FAQ page, etc.) Monday, December 17th, 2012.
